Job summary

St Mary's Island CE (Aided) Primary School is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our collaborative team. You will support teaching and learning under supervision, assist with planning, and help create a safe, stimulating classroom environment.

We welcome applicants for both full-time and part-time hours (38 weeks per year). The successful candidate will contribute to safeguarding and inclusive practice within our warm, community-focused school.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above.
• Experience working with or caring for primary school children.
• Strong verbal communication and organisational skills, alongside digital literacy.
• Absolute commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Responsibilities

• Assisting class teachers with planning and delivering engaging activities.
• Helping raise standards and encourage independent learning.
• Supporting inclusion of pupils with SEND.
• Using behaviour management strategies in line with school policy.
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing constructive feedback to pupils and teachers.
