Job summary

BRC Jobs is seeking a Support Worker for our service in Truro. The role involves providing person-centred support to customers with mental ill health and/or substance misuse, in a setting with potential challenging behaviour, while maintaining professionalism and a positive approach.

You will build trusting relationships, support individuals with their goals and contribute to risk management, documentation and effective team communication.

Qualifications

• Experience or understanding of support needs and planning.
• Experience in risk assessment and risk management.
• Clear communicator able to build rapport with customers.
• Organised with good record-keeping and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide person-centred support to customers experiencing mental ill health and/or alcohol and substance misuse.
• Support customers who may display challenging behaviour, maintaining a calm, professional and positive approach.
• Build trusting and respectful relationships with customers.
• Support customers with their individual needs, goals and support plans.
• Contribute to risk assessments and effective risk management.
• Promote independence, dignity, wellbeing and positive outcomes for customers.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records and support documentation.
• Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and other professionals.
• Work confidently both independently, including lone working, and as part of a team.
• Respond appropriately to challenging situations and work effectively under pressure.
• Adapt to changing circumstances and the individual needs of customers.
