Job summary

iBC Healthcare provides one-to-one support for an adult with learning disabilities in Spondon, Derbyshire. The role is built around a therapeutic, person-centred approach to help build routine, confidence and independence at home and in the community.

Applicants should have experience with learning disabilities and PBS, with strong de-escalation and communication skills. The role is full-time with days and nights available, paying £12.90 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, or behaviours of concern.
• Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and trauma-informed practice.
• Strong de-escalation, communication and observational skills.
• Calm, patient, non-reactive approach under pressure.
• Commitment to consistent professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Deliver person-centred, therapeutic support tailored to the individual's needs, preferences and goals.
• Promote independence and meaningful daily life choices.
• Support with personal care where required, maintaining dignity and respect.
• Support medication administration in line with policy.
• Assist with daily living tasks, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, appointments to build skills and confidence.
• Encourage community access and social inclusion, tailored to the person's interests.
• Follow the support plan, risk assessment and PBS plan consistently.
• Recognise early signs of distress and respond using de-escalation techniques.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation and records.
• Work collaboratively with family members, healthcare professionals, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
