Job summary

Royal Mencap Society in South Shields is seeking a part-time Support Worker to help a man with learning disabilities live an active life in the community and at home. You will support daily activities, provide emotional warmth, and build trusting relationships.

Role supports 32 hours per week with shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays. Driving is preferable. DBS checks and references are required as part of the onboarding process.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships.

• Positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities and emotional support.
• Help with community access and domestic skills.
• Build meaningful relationships with the individual and family.
• Work across 24-hour care rota and planning.
