Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Sous Chef to join Braintree Mews Care Home in Braintree. You will support the Head Chef and lead a culinary team delivering nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals for residents.

Ideal candidates will hold City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent, with at least 1 year of catering experience, and a compassionate, adaptable approach. DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK are required.

Qualifications

• Hold relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent).
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to high-quality culinary services.
• Be adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Preparing modified diets following IDDSI guidance.
• Supervising and directing culinary staff as directed by Head Chef.
• Ensuring high hygiene standards and safe food handling.
• Understanding Avery Food Safety Management System.
