Job summary

New Directions Education Ltd in Skelmersdale is seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team ASAP. You will work closely with teachers, the SENDCo, parents and external agencies to support children with SEND, helping them reach their full potential in an inclusive environment.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, assist with differentiated learning activities, and promote independence, wellbeing and confidence in students with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and other needs.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEND is desirable.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Patient, caring and proactive approach.
• Resilient, adaptable and confident supporting students with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEND.
• Assist teachers with differentiated and engaging learning activities.
• Support students in academic progress, emotional wellbeing, social development and independence.
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom.
• Build strong, positive relationships with students.
• Support pupils with ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH and other learning difficulties.
