Job summary

Aspire People Recruitment is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support Derby schools with pupils who have special educational needs. You will work across multiple classrooms, providing targeted 1:1 and small group support to help learners reach their potential.

In this role you will partner with teachers and SENCOs to implement IEPs, promote positive behaviour, and foster an inclusive learning space. A patient, resilient attitude and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience preferred).
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to different school settings and pupil needs.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Aspire People).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties).
• Support students with academic, social, and emotional development.
• Work with class teachers and SENCOs to implement IEPs.
• Promote positive behaviour and an inclusive, safe learning environment.
• Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning materials as needed.
