Job summary

Welbeck Cambridge is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join a brand-new private day-case centre, delivering high-quality venepuncture and patient-centred blood collection services. You will work closely with consultants, nurses and administrative colleagues to ensure accurate specimen collection and a positive patient experience from arrival to discharge.

You will perform venepuncture, label and transport samples, maintain safety standards, and contribute to quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Formal Phlebotomy training and venepuncture competency.
• Experience working with diverse patient groups.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Collect high-quality blood samples through safe and accurate venepuncture, following clinical protocols and best practice.
• Support patients throughout their phlebotomy appointment, delivering compassionate, professional, and person-centred care.
• Ensure all samples are correctly labelled, processed, and prepared for transport to the laboratory.
• Work collaboratively with consultants, nurses, allied health professionals, and wider diagnostic teams to support an efficient patient journey.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised clinical environment, including stock management, equipment checks, and infection prevention measures.
• Recognise and elevate patient concerns, changes in condition, or emergency situations in line with local procedures.
• Accurately use laboratory and patient management systems to support sample ordering and record keeping.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting quality, safety, and governance initiatives within the diagnostic service.
