Job summary

UKCIL is seeking a Personal Assistant to support a lady in Redcar at home. The role involves personal care, daily living tasks, and helping the client stay independent in the community, with shifts including full or split days.

The ideal candidate is reliable, compassionate and a good communicator, with comfortable cat handling and readiness for varied hours. Training is provided in moving & handling, first aid and hygiene. Flexibility for holidays and sickness coverage is required.

Qualifications

• Reliable and compassionate with a sensitive, person-centred approach.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Experience with spinal injuries is an advantage.
• Must be comfortable around cats.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care, including washing and dressing.
• Assist with light domestic duties (meal preparation, hoovering, dusting, and general tidying and organising).
• Support the client in accessing the community—enjoying time in the garden, visiting local places, and going out for coffee.
• Help with mobility within the home; experience with hoist transfers is highly desirable.
• Offer companionship and attentive support tailored to the client’s preferences.
• Care for the client’s cat, including feeding and cleaning the litter box.
