Job summary

Independent Lives in the United Kingdom is seeking a caring caregiver to support a boy with complex needs after school, on weekends and during school holidays. Duties include medication prompting, personal care, transport, and engaging in social activities with the child.

Applicants should be non-smokers, reliable with excellent timekeeping, able to follow instructions, read English, and comfortable with pets. Flexible hours and mileage expenses are provided.

Qualifications

• Non-smoker preferred or willing to refrain from smoking during working hours.
• Reliable with good timekeeping and the ability to follow instructions and use initiative.
• Comfortable reading and speaking English; patient and empathetic approach.
• Respectful of the family’s privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Medication prompting/administering.
• Eating and drinking assistance.
• Transportation.
• Companionship.
• Dressing / undressing.
• Bathroom assistance.
• Support with physiotherapy exercises and games (training provided).
• Accompanying during social and leisure activities (bus/train trips, shopping, library, museums).
• Accompany to therapy appointments or support groups if required.
• Engage in games, crafts and activities with the child at home.
• Research/plan activities to extend the child’s interests.
• Learn about the child’s condition to provide best support.
