Job summary

UKCIL in Wymondham is seeking a compassionate Personal Assistant to support a 37-year-old man with severe learning disabilities in his own home. You will provide one-to-one, person-centred care, assist with daily routines, personal care, food preparation and safe household tasks.

The role requires empathy, patience and the ability to build positive relationships. You will work as part of a small team with relevant training (First Aid, epilepsy) and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Experience with people who have severe learning disabilities.
• Understanding of autism and challenging behaviours.
• First Aid and epilepsy knowledge.
• Clean UK driving licence and safe driving practices.
• Ability to work well in a small team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one, person-centred care in the client’s home.
• Assist with daily routines, personal care and hygiene.
• Support with food preparation and mealtimes.
• Keep the home clean and safe; assist with household tasks.
• Engage the client in activities and outings; use de-escalation techniques when needed.
• Work with the team to ensure continuity of care.
