Job summary

A kind, reliable Care Assistant is needed in Blyth to support a 55-year-old gentleman with Adrenoleukodystrophy and Young Onset Dementia at home with his family. This maternity-cover role offers shifts across Monday to Thursday, starting 22 October, with additional hours possible including overnight care.

You will work closely with his wife, daughter and the wider care team, providing compassionate, high-quality support and personal care.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with complex physical and mental health needs.
• Confident in medication administration and moving & handling.
• Calm, patient nature with a good sense of humour.
• Be caring, reliable and committed.

Responsibilities

• Administer medication.
• Carry out personal care tasks such as washing, dressing and nails.
• Support moving and handling with a ceiling hoist and adapted equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and skin integrity due to incontinence.
• Build a positive relationship through encouragement and communication.
• Support caring for the daughter when the wife is at work.
• Work with the family and care team to meet needs and activities.
