Job summary

MHA is seeking a reliable Kitchen Assistant for Chapel Fields care home in Frodsham. You will support the Cook with food preparation, meals service and kitchen hygiene, contributing to a clean, safe kitchen environment while upholding residents’ dietary needs and MHA values.

Role focuses on assisting with food prep, serving meals, maintaining safety standards, and assisting with laundry tasks. DBS checks are part of the role, with full training provided.

Qualifications

• Basic food hygiene certificate is essential.
• Experience in basic food preparation is desirable.
• Strong communication and listening skills are required.
• Ability to follow instructions and prioritise tasks effectively.
• Flexible, caring approach with residents' needs in mind.
• Willingness to undertake training and development.
• QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care is desirable but training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Support the Cook with food preparation, serving meals and washing up.
• Keep kitchen areas clean and tidy according to schedules and Food Safety Manual.
• Dispose of waste safely and hygienically.
• Ensure supplies of cleaning and washing materials are available.
• Assist with laundry tasks for kitchen linen.
• Follow COSHH, food hygiene, health & safety, and infection prevention rules.
• Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and choice.
• Attend training, supervision, appraisals and staff meetings as required.
