Job summary

Inspire Neurocare is seeking a compassionate Kitchen Assistant to join our team in Southampton. You will work alongside chefs and multidisciplinary staff to prepare nutritious meals tailored to residents’ dietary needs. The role involves helping with cooking tasks, maintaining hygiene standards, and supporting stock management.

Experience in catering and healthcare settings is preferred. A proactive, flexible attitude and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment will help

Qualifications

• Proven experience working within a catering environment as a Kitchen Assistant.
• Experience of working in a healthcare or care-based setting.
• Working knowledge of health and safety standards, food safety regulations and best practices within a Kitchen.
• Compassionate attitude and willingness to support individuals with neurological conditions.

Responsibilities

• Support and assist the chefs with day-to-day food preparation, including chopping, mixing, portioning and assembling ingredients.
• Support with basic cooking tasks under the chef’s supervision, helping to deliver high-quality meals in line with planned menus.
• Ensure all food prepared meets Food Hygiene Standards and that safe methods of work are used.
• Manage stocks and stores with correct labeling and rotation.
• Maintain fridge temperature records to satisfy food hygiene requirements.
