Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support dementia, nursing, residential and specialist care homes in delivering nutritious meals with kindness and respect. You will assist in meal prep under supervision, serve meals warmly, and maintain a clean, well-organised kitchen.

We value patience, teamwork and a willingness to develop; an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or readiness to work towards it is preferred. Full training, benefits, and ongoing development are provided.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience or a willingness to work towards NVQ2.
• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under supervision of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Support stock rotation and ensure ingredients are properly stored.
• Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless, even after busy meal times.
