Job summary

Abbeyfield Wessex Society in Dorchester is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the chef in delivering high quality meals to residents in Clandon House. The role includes weekend alternation and every-week scheduling across two weeks, with a pay rate of £12.90 per hour.

You will help prepare meals, supervise breakfast service, keep the kitchen clean, and assist with deliveries while maintaining confidentiality and following health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Be able to demonstrate a flexible approach in the delivery of work.
• The post holder must be capable of lone working.
• The post holder may be required to perform duties not specifically identified in the job description.

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient and effective meal service to residents while understanding their needs and exceeding them where possible.
• Assist with the preparation of high quality freshly prepared meals and baked goods and support the chef as required.
• Provide a daily breakfast service for residents.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and report any faults promptly.
• Wash up, operate dishwashers and store items away after use.
• Unpack and store deliveries of groceries.
• Answer the house telephone and take messages when appropriate.
• Keep communal parts of the house clean and tidy.
• Wear appropriate PPE when required.
• Provide cover for holidays and sickness as required.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Attend training courses and meetings as required.
