Job summary

Garden House Hospice Care is seeking Registered Nurses with a passion for patient-centred care to support patients with life-limiting illness and to assist families and carers both in the Inpatient Unit and in patients’ homes.

The role involves mentoring new staff, coordinating the Inpatient Unit/Hospice at Home services, and working with the multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised care. A full UK driving licence and business-use car are essential.

Qualifications

• NMC registration and the Right to Work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
• Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to balance conflicting priorities and manage a challenging workload in a calm and professional manner
• Be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team
• Utilise advanced nursing skills and knowledge
• Have a can-do, enthusiastic attitude
• Be a compassionate nurse who will play a key role in planning, implementing and evaluating evidence based, individualised nursing care
• Possess excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to lead and motivate others

Responsibilities

• Provide knowledge and skills in caring for patients with life limiting illness/ advancing illness
• Work in partnership with the patient, family and Primary Health Care Team so the care plan is understood and acceptable to both the patient and family
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure collaborative working for the benefit of patient care
• Provide a high standard of personalised and on-going after care for bereaved families and friends
• Provide mentorship and preceptorship to new starters, newly qualified staff and students and to encourage an effective learning environment
• Supervise and co-ordinate the running of the Inpatient Unit/ Hospice at Home service, in the absence of senior staff
