Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Complex Health Needs SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Merton, supporting pupils aged 3-19 with severe and complex needs, PMLD, autism and medical requirements.

You will work with teachers and healthcare staff providing one-to-one and small-group support, assist with personal care, follow care plans, and help learners access learning and sensory activities, ensuring a safe, dignified and engaged learning environment.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS covering Children and Adults.
• Genuine interest in supporting children with complex needs.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare.
• Availability for a full-time, term-time-only position.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and follow school policies.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support throughout the school day.
• Supporting pupils with personal care, hygiene, dressing and toileting where required.
• Following individual healthcare plans and established care procedures.
• Supporting pupils with complex health needs under appropriate guidance and training.
• Assisting with safe positioning, mobility and physical support in line with training.
• Helping pupils access learning activities, communication opportunities and sensory experiences.
• Monitoring pupils' wellbeing and promptly reporting concerns to the appropriate staff.
• Promoting pupils' independence, dignity, safety and emotional wellbeing.
• Working collaboratively with the wider school team to maintain a safe, supportive environment.
