Job summary

Dignity Funeral Directors at the Abingdon Care Centre in Oxfordshire invites applications for a Funeral Service Operative (Level One). You will support families during sensitive moments, delivering dignified care and ensuring wishes are respected.

You will care for the deceased, assist Funeral Directors, drive specialist vehicles, and participate in an on-call rota. Training is provided, and no prior funeral experience is required.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence (Essential).
• Physically capable of manual handling.
• Empathetic, professional and calm under pressure.
• Able to use IT systems including Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Provide dignified and professional care for the deceased.
• Support Funeral Directors in delivering seamless service and ceremonial work.
• Drive and operate specialist vehicles (hearses, limousines, private ambulances).
• Maintain high standards of presentation for vehicles and facilities.
• Participate in an on-call rota (nights/weekends) to support families.
• Prepare the deceased and assist with family interactions and chapel visits.
