Job summary

Encompassborders is seeking a Personal Assistant – Companion to provide friendship, support and companionship to an older lady living with dementia in St Boswells. You will accompany to local activities, help attend groups and reduce isolation through friendly conversation and encouragement.

The role is part-time (4 hours per week) with paid mileage at 45p per mile, 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata and a 6-month probation.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting someone living with dementia or older people is desirable but not essential.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to encourage participation in social and community activities.
• Able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Accompany me to a local tea and chat group each Monday.
• Support and encourage attendance at a lunch club every second Friday.
• On alternate Fridays, encourage and support participation in community activities and outings.
• Provide friendly companionship and emotional support.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship.
• Encourage social interaction and help reduce feelings of isolation.
• Support my independence and confidence when accessing community activities.
• Encourage me to try new activities and make the most of opportunities within the local community.
