Job summary

Abbeyfield in Bramhall is seeking a Cook on a casual (bank) agreement to provide nutritious meals for residents. You will plan and cook meals from agreed menus, considering dietary needs and preferences, and work within a team in a modern kitchen.

Applicants should have a Food Hygiene certificate or be prepared to obtain one within 3 months, with experience cooking for groups of 12–20. Good literacy, organisation, and stock control are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to obtain within 3 months.
• Experience cooking healthy meals for large groups (12–20) on a regular basis.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities; able to read and write to a good standard.
• Maintain a clean, organised kitchen with stock rotation and cost control.
• Show empathy and understanding of older people's nutritional needs.

Responsibilities

• Create healthy balanced menus with resident input.
• Plan, prepare and cook meals according to the menu, considering dietary needs.
• Ensure a reliable supply of catering products and timely ordering.
• Maintain stock rotation and control to manage catering costs.
• Ensure safe use of equipment and adherence to COSHH and cleaning procedures.
