Job summary

EMED Group is recruiting for bank (0 hour) Ambulance Care Assistants to join our Shrewsbury team. ACA roles involve transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to appointments and between healthcare facilities, sometimes in two-person crews.

You must hold a full UK driving licence, be physically fit for patient handling, and pass Enhanced DBS checks. Flexible shifts and a calm, empathetic approach when dealing with patients and families are essential.

Qualifications

• Transport patients to appointments and between facilities in ambulances.
• Must be physically fit for patient handling and moving.
• Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
• Be available to work flexible shifts.
• Familiar with local and surrounding area.

Responsibilities

• Transport elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
• Work in two-person crews or alone, requiring safe driving and patient handling.
• Assist with handover to staff on arrival at treatment centres or hospitals.
• Transfer patients between beds, stretchers and chairs in various settings.
• Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
• Keep ambulance clean, safe and tidy.
• Liaise with patients' relatives to build rapport.
