Job summary

Sandwich Infant is seeking a kind and dedicated 1:1 Support Assistant for a Year 2 pupil with additional needs. You will provide targeted support to help the pupil feel safe, happy and engaged, enabling access to the curriculum and participation in school life.

The role starts with morning hours from 8:30am to 12:00pm and may develop into a full-time position over the school year. A patient, proactive and collaborative mindset is essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting KS1 pupils in a 1:1 capacity.
• Experience working with children with SEND, including autism and significant learning difficulties.
• A patient, kind, resilient and positive mindset.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative and de-escalation strategies.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with staff, parents and children.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to promote academic progress and wellbeing.
• Deliver tailored learning activities with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Support the pupil's independence and life skills development.
• Contribute to a calm, nurturing, inclusive learning environment.
• Maintain progress records and communicate with the school team.
