Job summary

Distinct Recruitment is recruiting a Company Accountant in Nottinghamshire. You will own the finance function across a small group, directly supporting the Managing Director, with hands-on responsibility for ledgers, invoicing, VAT, cash flow forecasting and monthly management accounts packs.

The role emphasizes improving reporting, automating processes, and operating efficiently within a private, service-sector group. Remote work not required.

Company Accountant £55,000 | Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire

The best accountants don't just produce good numbers. They find ways to make the entire finance function work better. That's exactly what this business is looking for. We're working with an established, privately owned group in the service sector, looking to recruit a Company Accountant to take ownership of its finance function. It's a small team, with several businesses operating within the group, and the opportunity to make a genuine difference.

What's the opportunity? You'll work directly with the Managing Director, taking responsibility for the finance function across the group. This is a genuinely hands on role, covering everything from maintaining the ledgers, invoicing and payment runs through to VAT, cash flow forecasting and producing monthly management accounts. A big part of the position will be producing a clear, concise monthly management accounts pack, giving the directors better visibility of performance, cash flow and what's happening across the different businesses.

The business uses Xero and is keen to embrace technology, automation and smarter ways of working. Who are they looking for? Someone who enjoys being hands on, takes ownership and is comfortable working in a smaller business. You'll need experience producing management accounts, strong Xero knowledge and a genuine interest in improving systems and processes. Qualifications are flexible. You could be a fully qualified accountant, part qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, qualified by experience with a strong practical accounting background, or AAT qualified.
