Job summary

Job description

Our client is a long-established, family-run business with operations spanning the UK. The business is looking to appoint an experienced finance professional to join the team and take ownership of the finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to become a valued part of a collaborative and supportive team within a business where hard work and commitment are genuinely recognised. You will join an established finance team of three, working in a busy, open office.

This is a full-time, office-based position working closely with the Managing Director and wider team. The successful candidate will benefit from a thorough and structured handover from the current post holder, providing ample opportunity to develop a strong understanding of the business, its processes and the role before taking full ownership.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts


• Month-end processes, journals and reconciliations


• Budgeting and financial forecasting


• Cash flow forecasting and monitoring


• Preparation and analysis of financial reports


• Variance analysis and commentary


• Supporting management with commercial and financial information


• Maintaining and developing existing financial controls and processes


• Overseeing the day-to-day finance function


• Supporting and working alongside the existing accounts team


• Liaising with external accountants, auditors and other professional advisers as required


• Assisting with wider financial and commercial projects across the business

Experience/Requirements:

• Qualified or part-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, although strong qualified-by-experience candidates may also be considered


• Experience in logistics, distribution or warehousing would be beneficial but is not essential


• Commercially aware and able to interpret financial information for management


• Organised, accurate and comfortable taking ownership of deadlines


• Approachable and willing to work as part of the wider office rather than operating solely within the finance function


• Comfortable working within a busy, operational business environment
