Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking a Housing Depot Operative to remove bulky waste, clean communal areas, and operate equipment safely. You will drive up to 7.5 tonne vehicles, receive full training, and cover for cleaning teams as needed across housing blocks.

The role requires flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude. Applicants must have a full UK driving licence and be prepared to work outdoors in all weather, with ongoing health and safety training and potential to gain

Qualifications

Full UK driving licence and experience driving caged tippers and large vans up to 7.5 tonnes.
Willing to undertake probationary training to drive up to 7.5 tonne vehicles and tow trailers.

Responsibilities

Removal and disposal of bulky waste including fly-tipped items, rubble, garden waste and supermarket trolleys.
Cleaning communal bins and washing communal windows using specialist long-reach equipment.
Removal of graffiti with jet washing machine and cleaning communal areas such as balconies panels and pathways and playparks.
Reporting to Green & Clean management team and local area housing offices on cleaning and gardening demands and tenancy issues.
Transporting specialist equipment for use on site.
Working outside in all weathers and demonstrating good manual handling.
Maintaining health & safety practices and safe methods of work.
