Job summary

Portsmouth City Council is seeking a Housing Depot Operative to perform day-to-day duties including removal and disposal of bulky waste, cleaning communal areas, and reporting issues to housing offices. The role requires a full UK driving licence and experience with caged tippers and large vans up to 3.5 tonnes, with training available to drive larger vehicles during probation.

You will work outdoors in all weather, demonstrate safe methods of work, and potentially gain qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Remove and dispose of bulky waste including fly-tipped items, rubble, garden waste and supermarket trolleys.
• Clean communal bins and areas using pedestrian sweepers and long-reach equipment.
• Report issues and tenancy concerns to relevant departments; assist with housing office tasks.
• Operate and transport equipment, including caged tippers and large vans, following safety rules.
• Work outdoors in all weather and follow Health & Safety practices.
