Job summary

Macmillan is seeking a Community Volunteering Partner to help partners involve volunteers and strengthen community-based support across the UK. You’ll provide expert advice, build trusted relationships with partners, and support grant-funded projects from planning through outcomes.

You’ll contribute to developing resources and learning opportunities to strengthen volunteering networks, with travel across the UK and occasional overnight stays.

Qualifications

• Experience of volunteering good practice, including legal, compliance, and inclusion considerations.
• Experience working with community, charitable, health or social care organisations (desirable).
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust with a wide range of internal and external partners.
• Experience managing projects and delivering plans against agreed objectives and budgets.
• Experience using data, reporting and insight to measure impact and inform decision‑making.
• Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills.
• Ability to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.

About the role

As a Community Volunteering Partner, you’ll help partners involve volunteers well and strengthen community-based support.

You’ll provide expert advice on volunteer involvement and build trusted relationships with statutory, community and voluntary sector partners. You’ll support grant-funded projects where volunteers are central to service delivery, providing support throughout the grant lifecycle. This includes monitoring progress, facilitating review meetings, supporting capacity building, and ensuring projects achieve meaningful outcomes for people affected by cancer.

You’ll also contribute to the development of resources, guidance and learning opportunities that strengthen volunteer involvement across Macmillan's partner network, while sharing insight on emerging trends, good practice and challenges within the volunteering sector.

About you

We're looking for someone who combines strong relationship management skills with expertise in volunteering and a passion for improving support for people living with cancer. You’ll bring:

• Experience of volunteering good practice, including legal, compliance, and inclusion considerations
• Experience working with community, charitable, health or social care organisations (desirable)
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust with a wide range of internal and external partners
• Experience managing projects and delivering plans against agreed objectives and budgets
• Experience using data, reporting and insight to measure impact and inform decision-making
• Excellent communication, coaching and influencing skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams
• Commitment to co-design and community-centred approaches, recognising the value of lived experience in shaping effective volunteering
• Ability to travel across the UK, including occasional overnight stays
