Job summary

Worcestershire County Council is seeking drivers to transport children and adults to schools and day centres. You will join a team with a Passenger Assistant, assist with passenger movement, and perform vehicle safety checks. A category D1 or PSV license may be required, with no more than 6 penalty points, and a DBS disclosure check is mandatory.

You will work split shifts, maintain vehicle readiness, and uphold safety and service standards as part of our community transport team.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Demonstrated evidence of experience driving appropriate vehicles.
• Must be fit to drive and pass a medical checklist before a driving assessment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain good communication with the Passenger Assistant, passengers, and all members of the public.
• Assist with moving passengers, including using a tail lift and securing wheelchairs as required.
• Keep the vehicle in good working order by carrying out basic administration, keeping the vehicle clean, and topping up with fuel.
• Carry out safety checks on the vehicle before collection and drive safely.
• Drive a vehicle on a split shift to transport individuals to their destination (morning and afternoon).
• Candidate must meet DBS disclosure service requirements and may be subject to a County Council driving assessment before interview.
