Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Braintree Council to recruit this role.

The Opportunity:

We have a fixed term opportunity for a Community Transport Co-ordinator to join our team. The Braintree Community Transport Scheme provides a social car scheme and minibus hire to residents, community groups and schools across the Braintree District. The scheme is membership based and provides transport to health and social appointments, shopping, events and local activities.

The role will co-ordinate the transport requirements of residents and groups, ensuring they can get to events in their local community, appointments, shopping trips and visiting friends and relatives, which contributes to improving their well-being and quality of life.

The role will be office based, liaising with a wide client base on the telephone to co-ordinate their transport needs.

Experience:

The successful candidate will need excellent, adaptable communication skills to deal with members of the public, taking into consideration the vulnerable client group, community groups and schools as well as liaising with volunteer drivers and other council departments.

The post holder will need to be organised and be able to plan and manage their workload. This is alongside planning and scheduling the work of the paid and volunteer drivers as well as ensuring the minibus fleet and the cars used by volunteers are maintained in line with the legalities of running a community transport scheme.

As part of the role, you will be provided with training on the flexi route booking system and need to be computer literate.
