A local government authority is seeking a Community Support Worker for the Chelmsford Outer Neighbourhood Team. This full-time, permanent position involves undertaking assessments and generating support plans while building relationships with clients. As a Community Support Worker, your role will include undertaking Assessments and Reviews in line with our Statutory duties under the Care Act to identify eligible needs and to then generate a person‑centred and outcome focused support plan. An essential attribute for the role is to be ‘curious’, thinking ‘outside the box’ is a must to achieve the best outcomes and to fully engage and utilise all that our community has to offer. Other duties include supporting the team’s incoming function, safeguarding intervention and multi‑agency working.
Partnership working with both internal and external partners is essential to achieving the best outcomes for adults and carers. You will need to work proactively to develop sustainable relationships with internal and external colleagues.
The work covers all ages (18+) and specialisms and is varied and interesting. An induction and appropriate training will be provided. You will also be joining a supportive team that encourages development and growth. It is also really important that you demonstrate a commitment to learning and development to support yourself and the team to deliver the best service possible.
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. A driving licence and a car or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
You’ll bring a strong ability to build effective relationships with adults and their families in times of challenge and crisis. You will have the drive and passion to want to make a difference, and a willingness to learn. Ideally you will have some experience of activity‑based work with adults and some knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within social care settings.
