Job summary

Dewis Centre for Independent Living is seeking a part-time Personal Assistant to support an 8-year-old boy with autism in local Welsh community activities. The role focuses on safety, engagement, and building independence in a structured, enjoyable setting.

You will provide consistent supervision, reminders for personal care, and help the child participate in activities they enjoy, while fostering confidence and social skills.

Qualifications

• Must be kind, patient and reliable.
• Experience supporting children with Autism/ALN preferred.
• Able to work confidently in the community and build trust with the child.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, supervised access to community activities.
• Support the child to build confidence, independence and social skills.
• Give reminders and prompts for personal care tasks (toileting).
• Stay attentive and manage safety, pace, and sensory needs during activities.
