Job description

The Community Support Coach will build trusted relationships with individuals, tenants, community groups and partners to help people improve their wellbeing, confidence, resilience and independence. The role combines personalised coaching and action planning with visible community engagement, delivery of inclusive activities and development of community-led solutions.

You will help people identify their strengths, needs and goals; connect them with the right local, Acis, CLIP and Riverside services; and support them to progress in areas including mental and physical wellbeing, relationships, education, employment, accommodation and financial resilience.

As a Community Support Coach, a typical day might include:

  • Engaging with people in hubs, community venues, neighbourhoods and local events to understand local needs, strengths, barriers and opportunities.

  • Building trusted relationships with vulnerable, isolated or disadvantaged people, including those experiencing mental ill-health, neurodivergence, low confidence or loneliness.

  • Completing holistic assessments, agreeing personalised action plans and carrying out regular reviews to monitor progress and outcomes.

  • Coaching customers to strengthen wellbeing, independence and resilience, including practical support to improve financial resilience and access appropriate funds or services.

  • Delivering inclusive learning, wellbeing, social and community activities in hubs and satellite venues, shaped by local need and the 5 Steps to Wellbeing.

  • Supporting people with lived experience to co-design, deliver and evaluate services, activities and peer-support opportunities.

  • Developing community-led events and solutions that make best use of local assets and help communities become more connected and resilient.

  • Building productive partnerships with community groups, statutory services, education providers, health organisations, support agencies and internal teams.

  • Making warm referrals and handovers into wider Acis, CLIP, Riverside and partner services, sharing a clear overview of support needs and agreed next steps.

  • Following up enquiries and participant journeys, checking satisfaction, encouraging next steps and addressing barriers to continued engagement.

  • Promoting services through local networks, outreach, events, social channels and marketing activity to increase awareness and participation.

  • Supporting the safe, welcoming and effective day-to-day operation of hubs and activities, including preparation, administration, customer service and appropriate site cover.

  • Maintaining accurate records, handling information securely and providing evidence of activity, impact and progress.

  • Working flexibly across hubs, satellite venues and communities, and contributing to wider team events and activities as required.

Experience of engaging and supporting people one-to-one and in groups, with excellent customer service and communication skills.

Requirements

  • The ability to assess needs, identify strengths and barriers, agree action plans and support people towards measurable goals.

  • A good understanding of mental health, wellbeing, neurodivergence and the barriers that can affect participation, independence and progression.

  • Strong skills in building and maintaining community partnerships and working collaboratively with internal and external services.

  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive community, learning or wellbeing activities.

  • Very good organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good IT and record-keeping skills, with close attention to detail and confidentiality.

  • Resilience, sound judgement and the ability to respond appropriately to challenging situations and behaviour.

  • General awareness of safeguarding, health and safety, equality and diversity, data protection and safe building or venue management.

  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport, or the ability to travel reliably between hubs, venues and communities across Lincolnshire.

The added extras

  • A qualification in mentoring, coaching, advice and guidance, wellbeing, mental health, safeguarding or a related discipline.

  • Mental Health First Aid or First Aid training.
