Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Community Relations Officer for mining projects in the UK. The role focuses on building trust with communities, communicating project impacts, and supporting social license to operate through active stakeholder engagement.

You will travel to site locations, run consultations, report on social impact, and help develop community development programs. A strong background in social development and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or social development, ideally in mining or resources.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive stakeholder relationships and navigate complex social dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Willingness to undertake frequent travel to project sites.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Community Relations Officer to foster strong relationships between their mining operations and surrounding communities. While based in Randburg , this role is designed to be predominantly remote, requiring significant travel to various project sites and community engagement points across different regions. You will be the primary liaison, responsible for understanding community needs, communicating project impacts and benefits, and managing stakeholder expectations. The ideal candidate will have exceptional interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of social development principles, and a proven track record in stakeholder engagement, particularly within the context of large-scale industrial projects and the mining industry .

Key Responsibilities
