Job summary

Lancaster City Council is seeking a skilled plumber to maintain and improve council housing and buildings across Lancaster. You will undertake a range of plumbing tasks, including responsive maintenance, emergency repairs and installations such as level access showers for disabled adaptations, while ensuring safe, high-quality homes for tenants.

You will work with the repairs team, manage van stock, and potentially guide apprentices.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in plumbing or equivalent
• Full driving licence
• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service
• Shared values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride and Ownership
• DBS check required for the role
• Understanding social housing and working sensitively in tenanted properties

Responsibilities

• Carry out plumbing tasks including responsive maintenance, emergency repairs and installations (e.g., level access showers)
• Manage void and empty homes, maintain van stock
• Work with the repairs team and subcontractors
• Use electronic reporting systems and follow health and safety standards
• Occasionally guide apprentices or trainees
