The National Trust is seeking a Community, Participation & Volunteering Co-ordinator at Ormesby Hall. The role focuses on championing engagement, coordinating activities, and expanding volunteering opportunities within local communities, including groups that are underrepresented.
You will recruit, support volunteers and foster partnerships across teams. Working 30 hours per week with some weekends, you’ll help ensure inclusive participation while upholding safeguarding and data standards.
The National Trust's commitment is "For everyone, for ever." Bringing that promise to life starts with the people that work here. It means building teams with a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures and experiences. It means creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
Our roles are open to all. However, we particularly welcome applications from people from ethnically diverse communities because they are underrepresented at the Trust.
As our Community, Participation & Volunteer Co-ordinator, you will champion the value of engagement, support the team to co-ordinate activities, and help grow and diversify opportunities so more people can get involved with the National Trust. This is a varied role that requires excellent organisational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving and strong relationship management skills.

Contract Duration: Fixed term until 30th June 2027
Working Pattern: You'll work 30 hours per week, including some weekends.
This role requires you to work with vulnerable groups including children, and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
Ormesby Hall is part of a larger portfolio stretching across the North York Moors and Coast. You’ll report to the Community, Participation and Volunteering Manager and be part of the Community, Participation and Volunteering team, as well as the wider property team of more than 20 colleagues across the Gardens, House and Commercial teams. A key part of the role will involve recruiting and supporting volunteers, particularly from groups within the local community, and developing strong partnerships and working relationships.
Supporting our volunteering work and community engagement, you'll be putting people at the centre of our plans. You'll build strong partnerships, create inclusive volunteering opportunities, and recruit and support volunteers, particularly from groups within our local community. You'll support and value our many volunteers, and encourage community-led activities that help restore nature.
You'll support colleagues, champion best practice, and ensure our systems and data are well managed. You'll work to remove barriers to participation, ensuring underrepresented voices are heard and actively involved.
You'll also look to build collaborations and partnerships within our community by creating and supporting opportunities for people to share time and skills, actively supporting community, partner-led or independent activities.
The role also includes Duty Manager responsibilities. This includes overseeing the smooth day-to-day running of the property during opening hours and acting as the main point of contact for staff, volunteers and visitors in the event of an emergency, enquiry or complaint.
