South Lanarkshire Council is inviting applications for an Occupational Therapist within Housing Services. The role involves assessing health aspects of housing applications, conducting home visits, and recommending priority levels to support safe, suitable housing.

A driving licence is essential, and travel is required. The post is based at Council Headquarters in Hamilton, working pattern Monday-Thursday 8:45am-4:45pm and Friday 8:45am-4:15pm, 35 hours per week, for 18 months with a salary of

Qualifications

• Strong IT skills and the ability to produce clear, accurate written reports.
• Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
• The ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external partners.
• Experience of managing a varied and demanding workload within a small team.

Responsibilities

• Working within the Home and Health Assessment Service to assess the health aspects of housing applications in line with the Council’s Housing Allocation Policy.
• Conducting home visits.
• Recommending housing priority levels.
• Identifying and facilitating the provision of equipment and adaptations to support individuals to remain safely in their homes.
• Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the Home and Health Assessment Service.
• Supporting the identification of housing needs in the development of new-build council housing.
• Undertaking environmental assessments of void council properties to inform the provision of appropriate adaptations and equipment.
• Completing occupational therapy assessments to support the Council’s housing investment programme.
