Job summary

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a Community Nursing Assistant to join the Children’s Community Nursing Team at Ayrshire Central Hospital, Irvine. The post is permanent and involves 24 hours over 3 days, Monday to Friday between 0800 and 2200.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support infants, children and young people with a range of clinical needs, delivering high-quality, family-centred care across clinics, schools and homes in Ayrshire & Arran.

Qualifications

  • SVQ level 3 or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of the effect on children’s health and wellbeing when they have long term conditions.
  • Experience of working with children and families in hospital and community settings.
  • Experience of working with children who have complex medical needs.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Time management skills.

Responsibilities

Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Nursing Assistant within our Children’s Community Nursing Team based at Ayrshire Central Hospital Irvine. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours:

24 hours over 3 days Monday – Friday between the hours of 0800-2200

UK Driving Licence:

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What you will do:

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will support the care needs of infants, children and young people with a variety of clinical needs including complex and developmental needs. You will deliver high-quality family centred care and provide support in a variety of settings including clinics in the acute hospital, child development centre, schools, early years facilities and family homes as well as health premises throughout Ayrshire & Arran. There will be an opportunity to work with all our community based teams to expand your experience and skills.
