Job summary

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced midwife to provide 24-hour cover within the community midwifery service. You will form rosters, deploy staff shift by shift, monitor activity and manage staffing issues while delivering direct care to women with autonomy and professional leadership.

You will mentor students and junior staff, promote evidence-based practice, and support the birth process, ensuring high standards of care across the service in

Qualifications

• Autonomous practice and clinical leadership in midwifery.

See attached job description for full details Have delegated responsibility for 24-hr cover within the community midwifery service. This includes formulating rosters to ensure adequate and appropriate cover and when required, liaising with and deploying staff on a shift by shift basis according to service need. Monitor the activity within your designated team and across the service on a daily basis and manage high activity and staffing issues as required. Be an autonomous practitioner providing clinical leadership and expertise in all aspects of midwifery practice, which includes providing direct care to women. Delegate clinical tasks to staff members on duty as appropriate e.g. care of complex cases, routine checking of equipment. Facilitate the development of all staff including student midwives, junior medical staff and support workers through evidence-based teaching and empowerment. Assess, develop, implement and evaluate the highest standards of care based on evidenced- based practice. Promote the physiology of the birth process through supporting both women and staff.
