Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is hiring a part-time Community Library Assistant to support Sawston Library and travel to other district libraries as needed. You will help create a friendly, welcoming space for customers and volunteers, using IT and library systems to assist everyday tasks and transactions.

You will need excellent communication and digital skills, enjoy working with volunteers, and be able to multi-task, adapt to changing hours, and perform routine library duties with care and

Qualifications

• Ability to travel to other district libraries is required.
• IT skills are essential and training will be provided on library systems.
• Standing for long periods, bending and lifting is part of the role.
• Excellent communication and digital skills are essential.
• Experience working with volunteers is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Create a friendly and welcoming library space for customers and volunteers.
• Multi-task, be flexible and able to work under pressure.
• Assist with library routines, including front-line customer care, cash handling, stock requests and stock circulation procedures.
• Collaborate with partners in the building to deliver services.
• Promote library services to a diverse range of customers.
