Location: Various Locations In West Dunbartonshire, G82

Salary: £26,333.31 - £28,322.45 per year

Contract Type: Permanent

Position Type: Full Time

Hours: 35 hours per week

Job Description

PAY AWARD PENDING.

Post 1 – Dumbarton Library (35 hours)
This role will be primarily based in Dumbarton Library and includes the effective management of Faifley Library. A 2 week shift pattern will include Wednesday evenings and alternate Saturday working.


Post 2 – Clydebank Library (35 hours)
This role will be primarily based in Clydebank Library and includes the effective management of Duntocher Library. A 2 week shift pattern will include Thursday evenings and alternate Saturday working.


Post 3 – Dumbarton Academy (21 hours)
This role will be based in Dumbarton Academy School Library working 3 days per week.

We are looking for enthusiastic Community Library Co-ordinators to join our team. As a Community Library Co-ordinator, you will ensure the effective management of allocated library facilities in the community or school setting and the line management of a team of library and Information Officers.

You will provide and promote an effective frontline library service, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment. The post ensures the efficient and effective operation of a library to customers across West Dunbartonshire

We aim to give excellent customer care so you should be a good communicator with people of all ages and have recent experience of working in a customer facing role with an outgoing, friendly and courteous manner.

We use ICT to manage and deliver our services so you will need to have a working knowledge of ICT, to the level of ECDL or equivalent.

The Libraries team manages eight Public Libraries, five School Libraries as well as a Mobile Library and a Home Delivery service. Libraries encourage reading, inspire creativity and support lifelong learning through free access to books and other physical and digital resources, computers and information. Our wide portfolio of activities embrace all age ranges and include baby yoga, baby massage, Bookbug, Storytime, primary and secondary school events, computer classes, author talks and literature festivals.

Libraries are an integral part of the local authority in meeting its statutory duties, improvement targets and local outcome improvement objectives. There is close liaison with a number of Council departments and external partners to meet local and national priorities. Contributions are made to the Council’s Community and Service Plans, and to national Library strategy in collaboration with the Scottish Library and Information Council. Systems and procedures are in place to monitor the impact on service users and are used to ensure continuous service improvement.

Requirements

This post is considered a Regulated Role with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here .

Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
