Job summary

Fallowfield Library and Community Resource Centre is seeking a friendly Community Hub Engagement Assistant to support day-to-day activities, oversee library desk duties, and run community projects in a welcoming setting in Manchester. The role emphasizes compassion, reliability, and flexible hours, with a focus on health and wellbeing for all residents.

You will contribute to inclusive programs for diverse groups, handle administrative tasks, and ensure safe access to the hub while supporting

  • Oversee day-to-day activities in the community hub, including the library desk duties.
  • Facilitate specific activities and projects booked in the space.
  • Develop additional community projects to engage groups and improve wellbeing.
  • Undertake admin duties: bookings, surveys, memberships, evaluations, data input.

The Place at Platt lane is a vibrant community resource centre in the heart of Fallowfield.

The Place is a charity, that is managed by a board of trustees made up of members of the local community.

With a focus on Health and Wellbeing and improving the lives of all those in Fallowfield, The Place at Platt Lane also hosts the local community library on behalf of Manchester City Council Libraries.

Job Description Community Hub Assistant

Working Hours

Friday 1pm to 5 pm

Subject to Change – depending on staffing requirements

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic Community Hub Engagement Assistant who:

  • Has the ability to lone work and be responsible for locking up the building

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING

As a Community Hub Assistant, you will:

  • Oversee the day to day activities being delivered in the community hub including covering the library desk if needed.
  • Facilitate specific activities / projects booked into the space
  • Develop additional projects that engage members of the community, this could include groups for young, older people, men’s groups, women’s groups and mixed groups and that improve their physical and mental wellbeing or reduce isolation. Examples could be Chess Club for children/adults Men’s social Darts Group
  • Undertake admin duties, such as room bookings, surveys, membership forms and project evaluations and data input.
  • Be a responsible key holder and including locking up
  • Accept and store groceries for our community grocer project.

WHAT SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
