Job summary

Nacro in Cardiff is seeking a Housing Support Worker to deliver housing and wellbeing services under the CAS-2 programme, commissioned by the Ministry of Justice across England and Wales. The role focuses on supporting quality housing outcomes for low/medium-risk service users.

You will assess needs, provide tenancy support, and coordinate with probation services and housing providers while maintaining robust case records and ensuring compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in a support or housing-related role.
• Experience working with vulnerable adults and individuals with complex needs.
• Strong communication, organisation, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to build positive professional relationships and motivate others.
• Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
• Knowledge of housing support, tenancy sustainment, and welfare benefits.
• Ability to work independently and within a multi-agency team.
• Resilient, with good work-life balance and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Service Users: assess needs, create safety plans, assist with housing applications and rent payments.
• Property Management: ensure Decent Homes standards, address maintenance, advise on living conditions.
• Collaboration: work with probation services, court staff, housing providers and agencies.
• Tenancy & Independence Support: help develop life skills and move to independent living.
• Risk & Safeguarding: identify safeguarding concerns and tenancy risks with proper records.
• Record Keeping & Compliance: maintain case records and meet contractual requirements.
