Job summary

The You Trust, a Dorset-based charity, is seeking a Temporary Community Health Worker to cover Weymouth, Portland and the West of Dorset. The role is a 9-month fixed term, 25 hours per week, with a salary of £17,311.25 (£27,698 FTE).

You will manage your own caseload, support clients in their homes or community, travel across Dorset, build partnerships with local agencies, and help with housing, benefits, budgeting and wellbeing. A driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Awareness of homelessness risks and impact on health and wellbeing.
• Knowledge of housing related support, housing law, debt and welfare benefits.
• Understanding welfare reform and universal credit.
• Experience working with diverse client groups.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload and provide one-to-one support in clients' homes or community.
• Support clients via drop-ins local to your area of work.
• Provide practical help with housing or benefits applications and budgeting.
• Encourage access to community resources and peer support services.
• Work with partner agencies and advocate on behalf of clients.
• Attend regular local office meetings in Dorchester and travel across Dorset.
