Community First Responder (CFR) Sussex Voluntary
Do you want to make a difference in your community, learn new skills, and be part of a team of volunteers who give up their time to save lives?
South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) offers an exciting opportunity for caring, compassionate community members to become volunteer Community First Responders (CFR). Upon successful completion of training, you will receive a Level 3 First Responder on Scene (FROS) qualification accredited by Future Quals, which exceeds the requirements of the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work and is applicable where that certificate is needed.
SECAmb services Surrey, Sussex, and Kent, covering 3,500 square miles and a population of 4.2 million; handling over 500,000 emergency calls annually. We aim to be a patient-centered, high-performing, efficient, and clinically led organization that meets the needs of patients and the public, now and in the future.
Community First Responders have significantly impacted many lives. By joining as a CFR, you would support SECAmb as part of a voluntary team, often being first on scene with seriously ill patients, including cardiac arrests, in your local area.
You should be an effective communicator, a team player, and demonstrate sensitivity and caring disposition to support people during difficult times. You will provide emergency care and reassurance until ambulance arrival, making this a highly rewarding role. You will receive comprehensive, up-to-date training and ongoing support from SECAmb and your local team.
Post-interview, you will connect with your local CFR team leader before attending the FROS course.
We offer a Volunteer to Career pathway, providing guaranteed interviews for paid roles within the Trust if you meet the criteria and wish to pursue a career in ambulance services.
