Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking a Home Fire Safety & Safeguarding Advisor to protect vulnerable residents and improve home safety through targeted visits and risk assessments. The role combines community visits with some hybrid administration and data recording to support prevention work.

You will work with partners across health, housing and social care to deliver safeguarding interventions and ensure timely referrals while maintaining high professional standards and community trust.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication skills with empathetic engagement.
• Experience in safeguarding or risk-related roles.
• Good IT skills and accurate records using data systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Home Fire Safety Visits focusing on those most at risk.
• Assess home fire risks and identify safeguarding concerns.
• Provide practical, personalised safety advice to residents.
• Install and maintain smoke alarms and safety equipment.
• Record visits, risks and outcomes in CFRMIS accurately.
• Collaborate with health, housing, social care and voluntary organisations.
