Job summary

Forestry England in the West district is seeking a permanent Community Engagement & Volunteer Support role to foster local access to woods and coordinate volunteers across forest beats and recreation sites.

You will reach out to community groups, organise visits, and provide specialist support to groups running volunteering activities. The role requires travel across the West district and a 37-hour week in a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience statement: 200-word statement required.
• Personal statement: up to 500 words required.
• Technical profile includes a presentation prepared in advance.

Responsibilities

• Make forest beats welcoming and safe for local communities to use and enjoy.
• Reach out to community groups to facilitate visits and build understanding and support for the work.
• Provide specialist support to those offering volunteering at forest beats and main recreation sites.
• Ensure volunteering opportunities follow best practice.
• Increase the number and quality of volunteering opportunities in line with Growing the Future to 2031.
• Travel across the West district as the role requires.
