Job description

Home-Start is a leading family support charity, committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under the age of 5. Volunteers offer regular support to families in their own homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown. We also run a number of family support groups.

We are seeking an experienced, flexible person with a warm, friendly personality who is a good communicator, to work with the Home-Start Telford & Wrekin team to engage with minority groups in the Telford & Wrekin area and recruit volunteers to support families.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience of delivering presentations
• Connections with local minority groups
• A fluent speaker of another language – preferably Punjabi, Polish or Romanian (the most predominant ethnic minority languages spoken in Telford & Wrekin)
• An understanding of the needs of disadvantaged children and families
• A working knowledge of IT, including Word, email, use of mobile phone apps
• The ability to work on their own initiative in a challenging environment
• A relevant level 3 or equivalent qualification

The successful candidate will need to hold a valid driving licence and have the use of their own car, which is essential (expenses will be paid).
