Job summary

City of Doncaster Council is seeking three Stronger Communities Officers to work citywide in a fully community‑based role. You will drive community engagement, build capacity, and support delivery of local and national programmes such as Stronger Families, Wellbeing and Community Led Support.

The post requires a strong track record in asset‑based development, collaboration with partners, and the ability to work across different settings to improve wellbeing in neighbourhoods.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing strong and resilient communities using asset-based approaches.
• Knowledge of anti-social behaviour and community safety legislation.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work across organisations.
• Knowledge of relevant policy agendas linked to service priorities.

Responsibilities

• Frontline delivery of a person-centred, all-age service within a locality, helping people stay independent.
• Asset-based community development promoting strengths-based practice.
• Delivering early intervention to reduce escalation into high-cost services.
• Tackling low-level crime and ASB and supporting victims using enforcement and interventions.
• Using partnership data to identify hotspots for prevention planning.
• Supporting individuals and families to achieve positive outcomes through programmes like Stronger Families and Wellbeing.
• Contributing to Community Led Support and capacity building for local services.
• Developing understanding of local needs to help communities develop their own solutions.
• Linking work involving Complex Lives and vulnerable individuals.
• Supporting delivery of community projects through funding opportunities.
• Working with Ward Members to support leadership roles.
