Job summary

Sirona care & health is offering a 12-month fixed-term Community Early Years Practitioner role to support the 0–19 Public Health Nursing team across Bristol East & Central. You’ll work with families in homes and community settings, promoting early intervention and safeguarding, while collaborating with Health Visitors and partner organisations.

The role requires a flexible, autonomous practitioner who is passionate about early years development and reducing health inequalities.

Qualifications

• Diploma of Higher Education, Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification with relevant experience in early years.
• Certified IAIM Baby Massage Instructor.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of integrated, evidence-based services for children and families.
• Focus on prevention, promotion, and early intervention to improve health and reduce inequalities.
• Work in family homes, children’s centres, and community settings in Bristol East & Central.

Join our dedicated 0–19 Public Health Nursing team as a Community Early Years Practitioner and make a lasting difference to children and families across BNSSG. Working alongside Health Visitors, you'll deliver evidence-based early intervention, empower parents, promote healthy child development, and provide support in homes and community settings.

This role is offered as a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a skill mix team, supporting delivery of integrated, evidence-based services for children & their families. Focusing on prevention, promotion, early intervention, improving health and reducing health inequalities.

Using a holistic and sensitive approach to support parents with their children's social, emotional and developmental needs, working in family homes, children's centres, and other community settings in Bristol East &Central.

Working in partnership with families to deliver evidence-based interventions promoting attuned and sensitive parenting and support the social, emotional and developmental needs of children.

You will work largely autonomously (lone working is a feature of the role) with supervision. There will be times when you access additional support or provide additional support with colleagues.

You will be responsible for planning, delivering and recording your allocated work and liaising with Health Visitors and other colleagues.

This role requires a flexible, warm & reflective practitioner committed to ongoing development of skills and knowledge in order to maintain the excellent standards of the service.

You will work with communities and services within your locality, including early years settings & children's centres to build social capital and community networks.

You will embed Sirona's vision of supporting communities socially and economically to tackle the impact of child poverty, reduce inequalities and add social value.

Person specification

Qualification and Training

• Diploma of Higher Education, Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification with relevant experience, in a related area such as early years education or childhood, or early years studies.
• Certified IAIM Baby Massage Instructor

Skills, Experience and Knowledge

• Evidence of a commitment to continuing professional development and reflective practice
• An understanding of evidence based practice in all areas of practice
• Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills in a range of situations.
• Demonstrate an ability to remain focussed on the child and child outcomes when working with families.
• Evidence of a clear understanding of the safeguarding role of CEYP within a universal service and multi agency context
• Demonstrate knowledge of early child development
• Experience of group facilitation
• Experience working in a similar community role.
